World Series Game 7 Draws Over 50 Million Viewers In the US, Canada and Japanese Regions.

The thrilling extra-inning clash where the Dodgers beat the Blue Jays 5-4 attracted a total 51M spectators across the US, Canadian, and Japan markets. Major League Baseball reported this represents the highest-rated Fall Classic Game 7 since the 1991 contest featuring the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Details

The Saturday memorable contest averaged 27.33M audience members on Fox Sports channels, Fox Deportes and their digital services. According to Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the week.

It also stands as the top-rated Fall Classic matchup since the 2017 Game 7 involving the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07 million. This marks a sixteen percent increase over the previous Game 7 featuring the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game placed fourth, the fourth game was seventh, the fifth game was eighth, and the third game landed in thirteenth position.

Global Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the game recorded 11.6M viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This made it the most-watched English broadcast in Canada since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game began at 9 PM local time, it drew 12 million. This followed the previous Friday’s Game 6 – in which Fall Classic MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up a single run in six frames – recorded 13.1 million spectators, making it the most-watched World Series game on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Overall Totals and Trends

The entire seven-game World Series drew 15.71 million viewers on the Fox network, a two percent rise from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This represents the first time after 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has recorded viewership growth for two straight years.

Counting the opening game broadcast on Univision, the total US average was 16.1 million. The total Fall Classic average in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1M in the Canadian market.

The complete playoffs on Fox and its sister channels drew 8.09M watchers, an eight percent increase over last year and Fox’s strongest postseason performance since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball stated that the Fall Classic was televised in over 200 nations and regions by 44 media partners in 16 various languages.
