19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden title for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a former number one, has endured a difficult year, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - caused him exiting of the top ten and ultimately splitting with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Now working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks the player's initial championship after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt from spring of 2023.

Success also indicates he has achieved twenty-one titles at twenty-one different competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my children simultaneously, so to win a trophy is particularly special," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my child my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his last six championship matches, featuring in Halle in the past months.

His counter-punching approach and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted observers to wonder if his capacity to play at the elite level was over.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and play assertively, backed up by an better serve.

He came back from a break down in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the concluding five points to take the lead.

The competitors swapped service breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his maiden ATP Tour title, gained dominance to create a third set.

He defended four initial chances in a close deciding set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned victory with a shot at the net, with his opponent unable to control a return after a lengthy match.
